# Download artifact content

> Returns artifact bytes directly or a 302 redirect to a signed storage URL valid for five minutes. Follow the redirect without forwarding Authorization across origins; with curl use --location, never --location-trusted. Verify length and SHA-256 against artifact metadata. Deleted or expired content returns 410. Encrypted downloads use application/jose and a .jwe filename.

See [downloads and retention](/developer/docs/developer/docs/revise-api/files) for integration guidance.

This TypeScript example fetches metadata, follows a signed download redirect when present, and verifies byte length and SHA-256. For a raw Response use `revise.artifacts.content(id)`. Encrypted content is compact JWE, with `application/jose` MIME and a `.jwe` filename.

## TypeScript

```ts theme={null}
import { ReviseClient } from "@reviseio/api";
const revise = new ReviseClient({ apiKey: process.env.REVISE_API_KEY! });
const result = await revise.artifacts.download("art_id");
```
