# Voice Dictation

## Write by Speaking

Don't feel like typing? Revise can turn your speech into text right in the document. Click the Dictate button in the toolbar and start talking - your words appear as you go.

### How It Works

While you dictate, the button shows that it's listening. When you stop, Revise tidies up the transcription - cleaning up filler and false starts - so what lands in your document reads cleanly. From there it's just normal text you can edit, format, or hand to the [AI agent](https://revise.io/help/ai-agent).

Note: Dictation relies on your browser's microphone access, so availability can vary by browser. You'll be asked for permission to use your microphone the first time.
