Stability
Revise is about 18 months old now, and the document editor powering the product has matured into a stable and robust library. Our growing user base uses it to work on all kinds of documents every day.
We’re rather proud of this, because Revise is essentially built from scratch. The only libraries it relies on are Next.js as a web framework, and Yjs for CRDT operations. The entire editor, including the core editor engine, canvas renderer, and DOCX parser, was built from scratch. It is very fast, easy for agents to work in, and has become very thorough in its coverage of DOCX features.
A couple of months ago we got a cold email inquiring whether Revise was available as a library. It wasn’t, but we realized it should be. So after a couple of months in private beta, today we’re announcing Revise is available as an SDK with a public NPM package:

You can now install and run the Revise editor in your own React app, and easily hook up documents, agentic editing, observability, live collaboration, and more.
Closed source?!
Yes, Revise is being released as a closed source SDK. The editor technology is valuable, and we’re not ready to just give away all of the hard work that went into it.
With that said, we can offer source code access to enterprise customers through a commercial agreement. You can contact sdk@revise.io to learn more.
And honestly, even competing products that claim to be open source actually aren’t. There is a deceptive strategy of wrapping obfuscated proprietary code in an AGPLv3 wrapper, claiming to be open source, and then forcing everyone into a commercial license to avoid AGPL’s copyleft.
Revise is not doing this. In fact, the Revise SDK is licensed as free to use for education, noncommercial apps, and of course for commercial trial/evaluation in development. You can read the full Revise SDK License here: https://revise.io/sdk/license
So if you want to make money with our library, then we expect to make money too. And if you want access to source code, we can arrange for that as well. We think that’s a transparent, respectable approach.
