Beyond Plain Text

Revise documents aren't limited to paragraphs. Use the insert controls in the toolbar to drop in richer content blocks anywhere in your document.

Tables

Insert a table from the toolbar and choose its dimensions. Once it's in your document you can add or remove rows and columns, and resize columns by dragging their borders. Each cell can hold its own formatted text.

Images

Add images by clicking the image button in the toolbar, dragging a file directly onto the page, or pasting from your clipboard. Images become part of the document and travel with it when you export or share.

Code Blocks

Insert a code block for any snippet you want to preserve verbatim. Revise applies syntax highlighting based on the language, and respects your light or dark theme. For short snippets inside a sentence, use inline code instead.

Math & Equations

Write mathematical notation with LaTeX, either inline within a sentence or as a standalone equation block that renders centered on its own line.

Diagrams

Create flowcharts and other diagrams using Mermaid syntax. Revise renders the diagram live as you edit, and includes it when you export to PDF.

Footnotes & Endnotes

Add scholarly notes from the Insert menu. Footnotes pin to the bottom of the page they're referenced on (numbered 1, 2, 3); endnotes gather on their own page at the end of the document (numbered i, ii, iii) - and you can use both in the same document. Numbering stays correct automatically as you write, reorder, and delete.

Click a note's superscript number to edit it in place, or click the note text at the bottom of the page. Notes round-trip through Word import and export.

Page Breaks

Force content onto a new page with a page break. This is especially useful in paged mode when you want a section to start fresh.
